Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport Concourse D Expansion
As part of the airport’s nearly $357+ million Capital Improvement Program, McDonnel provided construction services on several critical projects including the Concourse D Expansion, which is an approximately 56,900 SF cast-in-place concrete and structural steel roof framed building addition. The entire new Concourse is located on the second level with the first level (or Apron) used for airline operations. The project also included the construction of a “Connector” building that connects the new Rotunda gate expansion to the existing concourse. This Connector portion provided space for future retail development.
The project scope included:
- Addition of 6 new jet bridge gates to Concourse D, constructed of exposed structural concrete
- All new interior finishes, carpet, resilient, and terrazzo flooring
- A focus on passenger amenities and comfort with the addition of retail services and a large food court
- Full integration of all communication and security systems with the airlines, FAA, TSA, and other airport-wide systems
