Orleans Justice Center Medical Building by McDonnel Group: Project Overview

This Medical Services Building, part of the Orleans Parish Prison complex, is a two-story building of approximately 44,000 sq. ft. per floor plus an approximately 8,000 sq. ft. mechanical mezzanine and roof penthouse. It will contain approx. 855 tons of structural steel and 13 two-story concrete shear walls in seven locations. The building will contain 50 cells — single, double, and some padded — visitation and consultation areas, mental health services clinic space, a dental clinic space, and a laundry facility. It will have two elevators, one service and one for inmates.
