Shell Turnaround Building
This turnaround building construction project is the restoration of the Shell Turnaround Building, a 5,000 SF existing historical building from 1929. McDonnel’s Industrial Division completely stripped its interior and completely renovated it with all new metal stud walls to encapsulate Team Meeting Rooms on a group level and a personal business level with couches and chairs. Any need to plug a laptop in and share screens for meetings is possible with more than 15 monitors with sharing capabilities. The highlights of this building included an all-glass main conference room showing off a Shell-related pectin and privacy frosting, along with a spacious kitchen with a safety suppression stove system. A 50-locker locker room was installed to house all field PPE and personal items for users. The main floor inside the building can hold 50 personnel with plenty of desk space and multiple charging and data ports. The desks have stand up capabilities and can raise more than 48″ in height to keep the team attentive and productive. With more than 15 VAV’s, any personnel inside can work comfortably and adjust temperatures in specific sections as needed. To top off the inside, the exterior brick was painted with a fresh coat of paint and a new handicap ramp was added with galvanized handrails.
The Associated Builders and Contractors Pelican Chapter named this turnaround building construction project an Excellence in Construction Award Winner for 2023.
