New Orleans Municipal & Traffic Court Restoration

This public project involves the complete demolition of the interior of the New Orleans Municipal & Traffic Court Building, including asbestos abatement and the dewatering of an underground tunnel connecting the Courthouse to the House of Detention and to the New Orleans Police Department headquarters building. This will be followed by the overall restoration of this three-story building to feature seven new courtrooms with all new millwork, inmate interview rooms and holding cells, offices, and new restrooms throughout. New stairs will be built connecting all three levels with Terrazzo flooring for the new stairs and Main Hall. Stone wall paneling will be replaced throughout, and two new elevators will be installed with an additional elevator being refurbished. Nearly all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems will be replaced. The exterior building structure will be maintained with restoration works to the exterior skin including replacement of the curtain wall across two levels, a complete replacement of the roof system with two new elevator penthouses and a new stair penthouse wrapped in insulated metal wall panels. There will be new sewer and storm drainage, installation of storm water retention tanks, new paving, fencing, line marking and landscaping, and replacement of flood-proof panels.
