Huntsman Warehouse with Clean Room
The Huntsman Warehouse project in Conroe, TX, consists of a 5,500 SF blast-proof building constructed on an active industrial site. The facility features tilt-up panels, a steel structure, offices, and clean rooms, with critical ties into active product lines feeding a new packaging plant installed inside. McDonnel worked closely with the outside subcontractor to coordinate the placement and connections of the French-manufactured Pack’r system, which packages products into transportable drums. This required extensive coordination for location, proper wiring, safety controls, the fire deluge system, and other intricate details to ensure the Pack’r unit was installed safely and correctly.
The owner’s packaging system required collaboration between the vendor, owner, subcontractors, and outside trade partners to guarantee proper installation and safe operation. Due to the complexity of the project, McDonnel had to work in tandem with the plant to schedule timed shutdowns and utility turnovers, minimizing disruptions to ongoing industrial operations. Integrating the new system into existing infrastructure demanded precise execution to maintain safety and efficiency.
This facility’s design and construction accounted for blast resistance and operational durability, ensuring a secure and functional space for packaging and distribution.
